Antler Dish Choices

When I was given an unexpected gift certificate, I decided to use it towards these lidded stag bowls made by Creative Co-Op.  I knew I could use them many ways and was excited to put them to use.  I envisioned soup, salad, or even a dessert in them. I knew they would add a bit of drama to any table.

When Chloe Crabtree from Celebrate and Decorate invited me to join a great group of bloggers for this holiday tablescape blog hop, I thought it would be an opportunity to create a post showing these antler dishes in several table designs. Be sure to visit the bloggers listed at the bottom of this post for lots more inspiration.

I love this neutral look.

I found these napkins at Ballard's and then had my monogrammer add my initials.  They are heavy linen, and a great size.  I also used a quilted placemat that we got on market day in France.

This dark wood handled flatware joined a rough bark charger from Pier One.  I think I have a charger addiction.  I realized that I have way too many, but these were pretty special.  Then I used an off-white dinner plate from ZGallerie and a dark brown salad plate from Pottery Barn.

The glassware is a tortoiseshell tumbler and a rattan covered glass.

I just love the placecard I came up with.  It's a bit of dark brown pearlized construction paper with this fun three D stag head.

I bought them at Paper Source in this package.  They are already adhesive and have gold or silver antlers.

I changed up a few things to use this antler dish with plaids for Christmas.

There were a few more stags in the design.  Here's one on the rattan covered napkin ring.

I used the same bark covered charger with a plaid rimmed dinner plate from Target.

These etched tumblers came from World Market and the smaller one came from a store in Cashiers, N. C., but I don't remember which one.  I love the fact that the etching is similar but not the same.

These stag candleholders are the perfect choice to join this table.

I love me some plaid!

Here's another plaid that I love with these antler dishes.

I used a lot of very bright fall colors this year, so this table was a departure that I found soothing.  Here, I used an antique celluloid napkin ring.

This cream handled flatware cooled things down a bit.

It joined these birdseye maple chargers and these acorn embossed dinner plates.

These glasses look right at home here.

This velvet runner might have been overkill.

But, it looked good with this Cinderella pumpkin topped with succulents.  I used it on another table a couple of weeks ago, and it is still looking great.

I ended up taking these candlesticks to my daughter's house for Thanksgiving, but I just love how they gave this table a bit of a modern look.

I served a mushroom soup in this that I have posted about here.

I used these antler rimmed salad plates from Pottery Barn for ginger bread topped with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce.  Yum!

I know I'll use these over and over.  I just hope I don't break those antlers off.

  1. Linda, I love your assortment of antler goodies for the table. Your Ballard napkins are so handsome with the addition of the monogram. What a great little placecard with your 3-D stag. I have the same set of antler napkin rings that I found in a shop in Blowing Rock. I love me some plaid too :)

  4. Linda, I really like how you've taken your inspiration and created the several looks that can take you from fall all the way through winter. Although not as many, you'll see I've done something similar in my seasonal tablescapes.
The antler dishes are great (yikes to storage, though!), and the glassware, chargers (love them all, esp. the bird's eye maple!), flatware, and textiles...the seemingly endless combinations are a tablescaper's dream come true. And those little name card adhesives are just great. Really nice inspiration here, thanks for sharing and demonstrating all the possibilities.
