She's Back!!!

I was so happy to open my email this morning and find that Carolyne Roehm has resumed her on line magazine called CR Style!  I loved receiving this beautiful post in the past and as she says, she "took a respite from technology and took some time to stop and smell the roses".  I am thrilled to see that she has a new book out on November 4 called "A Passion for Interiors".  You can bet that I'll be looking for it on that very date.  You can pre-order it through CR Style, and she has even generously offered free gift wrapping (and boy, can she wrap a gift) and personalization for you.  I had the chance to meet her at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center when she was here for a design seminar.  She is every bit the lovely lady that I expected her to be.  I just love how she doesn't do trendy, she just does beautiful!  Go to carolyneroehm.com/presentations to subscribe to this on-line magazine.  Check out her articles on gift wrapping, gardening, cooking, entertaining, and tabletops.  Isn't she just the epitome of classic taste?

Another publication that I enjoyed this week is the November issue of Real Simple magazine.  It has some heart-warming articles such as "The Bizarro Centerpiece and Other Tales of Thanksgiving Wonder".  What I particularly enjoyed was "Set, Eat, Love" which demonstrated how to set unexpected holiday tables using white, earthy, gilded, or blue and white dishes.  All of us tablescapeholics will find this right up our alley!

There's one other magazine I enjoyed this week.  It was House Beautiful's November Entertaining Issue.  I was worried that the new editor would not keep some of the monthly articles that Stephen Drucker featured.  I love Ina's monthly Recipes and Tips and The Best series.  They are still there, and although I don't personally care for the tablescape that Diane von Furstenberg did this month, I would be sorry to see that feature fall by the wayside.

Here's a quote from Carolyne Roehm that I find so inspirational and true:

"Entertaining is one of the last rituals left in our modern, hectic, technological over-booked life that slows us down.  It draws us together with family, friends and strangers to celebrate two primal human needs: socialization and food.  Although fashions in dining change, we still adhere to the belief that sharing food is good and right.  And gathering with friends is one of life's great pleasures."
