Well, Hello Sunshine

Look what we've got here!!!  Sunshine!!!  After living in Cleveland, Ohio three times, you'd think that I'd be used to dreary skies during the winter, but I've been sorely missing our Georgia sunshine this winter.  I can't remember such a grey, grey stretch.

This was a cheerful bunch of Kroger flowers and they begged to come home and replace some of these darned poinsettias that just won't give up.  I have such a hard time throwing good plants out, but I'm so over them.

Here's this morning's cheerful breakfast table.  Since today is MLK day, Mr. Pressed Pants slept in and my mom, who is visiting, ALWAYS sleeps in, I had time to greet them with a bright and sunny table in the breakfast room.

These exuberant plates from Target set the tone.  What's better than a shot of pink and green?

The table accessories were fun, too.  The s/p set and the cow creamer are both from Pierre Deux years ago.  The majolica leaf dish is a good choice to hold sugar packets, both full and then empty.  The French butter dish and twig spreader finish it off.

The pink napkins are from the Palm restaurant line of linens, the knot napkin ring from Old Time Pottery, and the flatware is from Cost Plus World Market.  Nothing precious here but the guests!

This glass stoppered bottle and Ikea green glasses both held the oj.

Just a cozy three for homemade French toast and strawberries.  (You can tell it's a holiday when I make French toast, and not use frozen.)

My soul must have needed some pink, because it sure makes me smile.

See the sunshine out there?

"Bartholomew" is enjoying it, too.  Now, if this holds, there's a round of golf for me this afternoon.

My Table Tops at America's Mart

Whew!!!  It was a heck of a week!  Last week the merchandise mart in Atlanta held their annual gift show.  It's the largest in the country.  Ten million square feet of shopping!  Even for a well-trained shopper, it's a marathon, let me tell you.  If you follow this blog, you know that I'm totally enchanted by the paper company, Seven Barks.  I was flattered to help display their tabletop items in their booth.  This one featured their disposable place mats, with the equine themed items.  Love those letter press placecards and those paper napkin cuffs!

This is Chris, the owner.  His company beautifully celebrates the sporting life.  They are very authentic in their interest in these areas.  Chris has raced sailboats, and is an avid fisherman, and his family raises show dogs and rides.  Thus, these four sports are the basis of their products.

Here's the same dishes with the equine line and one of their fun party poppers.  I featured those poppers in a post here.

One of the new items was the pastel line of poppers.  I've used these same dishes in many posts.  Here's the table I'm going to add them to next Easter here.

I can see them for Easter, showers, birthday parties.  The badge can be customized to your party!

This is what I came up with to display their red/white/blue poppers.  I've used these dishes many times, too.  You can see them here.

These could be lots of fun!  Chris tells me they can customized for weddings, bar mitzvahs, or corporate functions.  My mind was reeling with the possibilities.

Here's a quick peek at the booth.  Sorry the pics are so lousy.  I was using my cell.

Their letterpress is fabulous.  As a matter of fact, their corporate motto is: "Fabulously Fun, Seriously Useful"!

Well, 2014 is a wrap, folks!  So many people have said that they couldn't wait to close the door on this year.  I didn't exactly feel like that, but I am looking forward to a wonderful new year.  I have decided to no longer make new year's resolutions, but rather to pick a word for the year and try to give that word consideration every day.  My word for this year was "LISTEN".  It's a good word.  I applied it to my loved ones, trying to hear what they were telling me.  (They have lots to say!)  And I tried to listen to others, and feel their messages, both spoken and unspoken.  I even applied this word to the outdoors, and spent much more time stepping outside for just a few minutes of listening to the birds and the wind.  And, of course, I heard that little voice inside my head telling me to do the right thing, over and over.  I think my word this year is "EMPATHY".  I know I'll do better to put myself in others' shoes, and act accordingly.  Do you have a word you're willing to share?
